RAISE --- The VCS And Business Link Event – 14th July --- The purpose of this event is to enable Voluntary/Community Organisations (VCOs) and Social Enterprises to become more aware of the free advice and support services provided by Business Link South East. The event will take place on the 14th July in the Holiday Inn, Guildford.
Delegates will have the opportunity to explore further assistance for any VCOs considering or planning to embark upon additional revenue generating activites. This event will also provide a unique opportunity for delegates to explain to Business Link advisers that Voluntary/Community Sector needs differ from ‘traditional’ business.

NCVO Third Sector Foresight Training --- In partnership with NCVO Third Sector Foresight Partnership team RAISE will be holding two breakfast workshops for leaders of infrastructure organisations within the South East. The training titled 'making sense of your environment' will take place in the morning on the 7th July and 4th August from 9:00am till 10.30am in Guildford.

Building A Fairer Hampshire - 24th June --- This event will take place on the 24th June in Winchester Discovery Centre, Hampshire. Community Action Hampshire will join forces with delegates to help form a powerful voice for marginalised and excluded people to influence the work of all agencies. The forum aims to bring about a fairer and more inclusive society in Hampshire by supporting the representation of all equality strands at a county level.

Applications Now Open For The Governments Modernisation Fund --- From 1st June to 17th July, Voluntary/Community Organisations with an annual turnover of between £150,000 and £750,000 are invited to apply online for a £1,000 bursary from the Government’s Modernisation Fund Grants Programme which is being delivered by Capacitybuilders.

BBC Children In Need Launches Brand New Grants Programme --- BBC Children in Need have announced that they will be launching a brand new £3 million grants programme ‘Fun and Friendship’, to address the lack of opportunity for independent socialising for disabled young people aged 12 – 18, growing up in the UK. The closing date for applications will be the 31st July.

After School Activities Accessible To All --- A new independent education charity set up by Partnerships for Schools aims to give young people access to opportunities and experiences which support them to fulfil their potential. was launched at the London Eye on Tuesday 19 May. Designed to complement the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme, the Transformation Trust - which has already raised in excess of £1 million ahead of the launch – will enable every young person to have access to a range of opportunities that currently may only be available to some.

Public Policy Exchange – Community Cohesion 16th July --- The conference will explore the new challenges that local authorities and their partners face in reconnecting the ties that bind local communities together, transforming local leadership and providing fair and consistent access to public services for all members of their community. Delegates will have the opportunity to debate, share best practice and network with colleagues from across the community cohesion, local authority and government landscape. The conference will take place in Westminster.

Supporting The Community To Respond To The Economic Climate – 24th June --- This event will support the Voluntary/Community Sector in building their knowledge, skills and confidence to respond to the current economic downturn. The event will take place in the Parish Hall, Benson Oxfordshire. This is a free event, with lunch provided. The event will seek to bring together those who support the community sector from: Local Authorities, other public sector and Voluntary/Community Organisations involved in community development activity.

Empowering Communities Review Of Evidence --- Empowering Communities to influence local decision making, a systematic review of the evidence. This study reviews the domestic and international evidence around community empowerment. The study aims to make sense of evidence in order to identify what empowers communities.

The Learning And Skills Council Transition Document --- The Learning and Skills Council is to be abolished in 2010 and replace by two new agencies: the Skills Funding Agency (SFA), which will deliver learning and skills provision for adults; and the Young People Learning Agency (YPLA). Whish will focus on the provision for 16 – 19 year olds. The document 'Transition to the Skills Funding Agency and Young People's Learning Agencye: identifying key issues for the Third Sector' - outlines these changes.
