Economic Climate Survey Deadline Approaching --- If you have previously completed this survey in January and or March please do so again to allow us to continue to measure these changes. An analysis of the survey responses will be fed directly to key influential decision makers in the South East, including the South East Economic Delivery Council. The deadline for responses is the 10th July.

Call For Comments: Provision For Gypsies, Travellers And Travelling Show People --- The South East Partnership Board has submitted their review of the provision of new pitches that each local authority should provide for Gypsies, Travellers and Travelling Showpeople in the South East. Responses to the content of the document are requested before 1st September 2009.
RAISE submitted a response to the initial public consultation in November 2008 which culminated in the preparation of the review now being consulted on. RAISE is now calling for comments to incorporate into the current consultation request which shall in turn be considered as part of an Examination in Public early in 2010.

Development Workers Workshop --- RAISE in partnership with NCVO Third Sector Foresight is holding a workshop for development workers or information officers - those who support other organisations to understand and respond to a changing environment - called 'Understanding the external environment: supporting the frontline'. The workshop will improve development workers preparation in responding to the changing times. The workshop will also explore the latest and future trends impacting on Voluntary/Community Organisations.

New Support Network For Carer’s Of Disabled Children --- Shared Care Network has been awarded £379,128 to set up an England-wide short break carers network, giving families of disabled children a short respite from their caring duties.

Communitybuilders Fund --- Communitybuilders is a £70 million government programme which aims to help build more cohesive, engaged and active communities through investment in community-led organisations looking to develop long term viability.

£16.5 Million Hardship Fund --- The Cabinet Office has announced that it will launch the new £16.7 million Hardship Fund in the near future. Forming part of the £42.5million Real Help for Communities action plan the Hardship Fund will provide grant support to Voluntary/Community Organisations in England delivering front-line services to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in society that have been affected by the recession.

Funding To Change Young People’s Lives --- The Learning Launchpad is a grant making fund that provides investment to organisations in their early stages of development. The Learning Launchpad offers investment at two stages. Stage one investments of up to £30,000 are suitable for people or fledgling organisations that are starting out with a new idea. Stage two investments of up to £100,000 are typically suitable for organisations or initiatives that are already up and running and want to grow.

Cash For Clubs --- Sports clubs that are registered with their sport’s National Governing Body or local authority can apply for grants of up to £1,000 through the Cash 4 Clubs grants scheme.

Faith In Action Reopens For Applications --- Faiths in Action is a £4 million grants programme sponsored by Communities and Local Government and administered by the Community Development Foundation that is open to faith, inter faith, Voluntary/Community Organisations at national, regional and local levels in England. The aim of the fund is to support the government’s aspiration to help faith communities and others to promote understanding, dialogue and develop strong and sustainable partnerships.

EU Funding Scheme For South East --- The aim of EU funding scheme, PEOPLE is to explore the opportunities for new forms of employment and for improving well-being and cohesion in the frame of demographic changes. PEOPLE aims to help reinforce cohesion and social welfare in the participating regions and find solutions to address some of the consequences of the economic down turn.

CCB Annual Conference 2009 --- Community Council for Berkshire’s (CCB) Annual Conference is taking place on the 14th July at Newbury Racecourse Berkshire. CCB’s annual conference explores the impacts and challenges of the White Paper ‘Communities in control real people real power one year on. Through presentations and workshops delegates will hear how people can influence decisions about their communities, take responsibility for tackling local problems and support ‘harder to reach’ groups.

POLICY AND CONSULTATION ---
New Guidance To Help Cut Red Tape --- Charities that receive public funding have to account to government funders for how they spend it and should show the impact they have achieved with it. But the cost of producing this information must be proportionate to the risks and benefits involved. Cutting unnecessary red tape can free up time and money that would be better spent focusing on the key services charities and others provide. The term for achieving this balance and avoiding poor practice is ‘intelligent monitoring’.

Talk Talks Innovation in Community Awards --- The Talk Talk awards will be open for applications from the 1st July to the 30th September 2009. Through the awards 30 cash prizes of £2000 are available. Five overall winners will receive an additional £250 of technology equipment. Talk Talk are keen to fund any technology project which extends the work of the organisation concerned.

SECTOR JOBS --- Chief Executive – Vale Volunteers £29, 714 – per annum Aylesbury Vale Volunteers is a small but effective voluntary infrastructure organisation with an integrated Council for Voluntary Service and Volunteer Centre, and incorporates a Gardening Services social enterprise.
The Chief Executive will be required to lead a small staff team bringing versatility, strategic vision, people skills and financial acumen required to run a successful and respected Third Sector organisation. Excellent analytical and communication skills are therefore essential, along with the proven capacity to influence and network at both local and national levels. RAISE will be working with the NCVO Third Sector Foresight team to better understand how the world is changing and how Voluntary/Community organisations in the South East region can use this knowledge to make better strategic decisions.
RAISE is holding two breakfast workshops for leaders of infrastructure organisations within the South East. The training titled 'understanding the external environment supporting the frontline' will take place on the 7th July and 4th August from 8:30am till 10.30am in Guildford.
